It wasn't until 1978 that Lenny found his true calling: a boat called a Lightning. He was 37, and already a renowned sailor when he decided it was time to take on a new challenge. After buying that first Lightning, hes been racing them ever since.

A smaller, more temperamental boat, the Lightning offered him a new opportunity, as well as a new pool of competition. Lenny says he is always searching for a new chance to learn, and the Lightning has given him that chance time and time again. In fact, after almost forty years, Lenny still feels as if he is learning more every day about his favorite kind of boat.
