Epidemiology courses - that Vic was personally involved with
Introductory epidemiology courses:
- EPID160 - Principles of Epidemiology (principal instructor: John C. Cassel) - student, fall 1972 (I have copies of John Cassel's lectures)
- EPID160 - Principles of Epidemiology (principal instructors: Abdel Omran / Michel A. Ibrahim) - student, fall 1977
- EPID160 - Principles of Epidemiology (principal instructor: Abdel Omran) - teaching assistant, fall 1978
- EPID160 - Principles of Epidemiology (principal instructors: Carl Shy, Michel Ibrahim) - teaching assistant, fall 1979
- EPID168 - Fundamentals of Epidemiology (principal instructor: Michel A. Ibrahim / Victor Schoenbach), fall 1980
- EPID168 - Fundamentals of Epidemiology (principal instructor: Victor Schoenbach) - later primary instructor, fall semesters from 1981, with several different co-instructors and guest lecturers, including Michel Ibrahim, Barbara S. Hulka, H.A. Tyroler, Joellen Schildkraut, Wayne Rosamond, James Thomas, Marilie Gammon, and others
- EPID160, later renumbered to EPID600 - Principles of Epidemiology for public health (instructors: Victor Schoenbach, Lorraine Alexander) - primary instructor from fall 2001 [classroom course] and summer 2002 [online]
Relevant websites:
- Epidemiolog.net includes Understanding the Fundamentals of Epidemiology - an Evolving Text used in EPID168 pre-2001 (text was later translated into Spanish) and the EPID168 historical site with past materials; also pages with past instructors in the introductory epidemiology course and teaching assistants since 2001.
- EPID160/EPID600 public site, including historical materials (current course materials are mostly in Sakai
Other UNC courses that I have been involved with and/or have some materials from are:
- EPID799C sec 02 - Social Justice and Equality - in Search of John Cassel's Epidemiology (website), first taught in spring 2014 with Bill Jenkins, who is a UNC Distinguished Alumnus among other distinctions; and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Epidemiology. Most sessions were videorecorded (unedited).
- EPID220 - Health Promotion/Disease Prevention: A behavioral epidemiologic perspective (taught with Berton H. Kaplan during the 1980s and 1990s) - many of the documents are in the MASS11 word processing program
- EPID268 - forerunner to EPID715, which is one of the foundational courses in the Epidemiology department - I was a TA in 1978 and 1979, when the course was taught by the legendary David Kleinbaum and Larry Kupper. I probably have some paraphernalia remaining.
- Various other courses - I have some items from courses I took or audited in the 1970s
