The epidemic of stress in modern society has profound effects on the developing brains of children, adolescents, and young adults—including unprecedented levels of anxiety disorders, depression, behavioral and learning disorders. This webinar will feature presentations by two leading experts on the benefits of Transcendental Meditation for the developing brain. They will present recent research findings and as well as clinical experience utilizing the TM technique to combat neuropsychological disorders of children, adolescents, and young adults, including stress-related disorders, ADHD, and autism-spectrum disorders.

• Fred Travis, PhD, is one of the most widely published researchers on the neurophysiology of meditation. His groundbreaking research has redefined the scientific community’s understanding of meditation — highlighting the fact that different meditation techniques differ in their mechanics and results. His work has elucidated the phenomenon of brain coherence as the basis of mental health, as well as the development of higher states of consciousness. Dr. Travis is Director of the Center for Brain, Consciousness, and Cognition and Dean of the Graduate School at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.

• William Stixrud, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist and director of the Stixrud Group in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is an author and frequent lecturer on topics related to neuropsychological assessment, learning, executive disorders, and brain development. Dr. Stixrud is a leading expert in the application of the TM technique in the treatment of psychological disorders of childhood, adolescence and young adulthood, including ADHD and autism-spectrum disorders. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Behavioral Sciences, and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Adjunct Faculty member of the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

During the webinar we also will speak about how health professionals can refer their patients to learn the TM technique at a significantly reduced professional fee through the TM Health Professionals Program. More information is available at http://www.tm.org/healthpro.

This webinar will offer concrete information and practical steps for health professionals interested in utilizing meditation in their clinical practices. The webinar will be recorded and archived for those who cannot view it in real time. Replay of the archived recording will be available from 12:00 p.m. PST on the day of the webinar.
