Promote collaboration and networking; and
Encourage strategic planning and partnerships at the UNC School of Medicine.

Proposals Due January 31, 2020
The UNC School of Medicine, the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the UNC Center for Health Equity Research are hosting the Inaugural Paul A. Godley Health Equity Symposium to highlight and encourage health equity research, promote collaboration and networking, and encourage strategic planning and partnerships at the UNC School of Medicine.
We invite research abstract submissions from UNC faculty, staff, and students advancing health equity in our North Carolina communities. Proposals (by January 31, 2020) should be focused on research on the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment outcomes, or elimination of health disparities through community-based research.

The Carolina Community Network (CCN) was a series of NIH grants aimed at reducing prostate, breast and colorectal cancer disparities among adult African Americans by leveraging longstanding university-community relationships and the community-based participatory research expertise at UNC to enhance and extend cancer education and research, research training, and cancer health policy in both secular and faith-based communities.

Paul A. Godley, MD, PhD, MPP, became the inaugural Vice Dean for Diversity and Inclusion in February 2017. He is a Rush S. Dickson Distinguished Professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a Senior Fellow at the UNC Sheps Center for Health Services Research.
