The Minority Health Project in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health was founded in 1994 by Lloyd Edwards, Trude Bennett, and Dorothy Browne. It developed the Annual Summer Public Health Research Institute and Videoconference on Minority Health (now the National Health Equity Research Webcast). Under the leadership of Victor Schoenbach, the Project helped to launch the annual broadcast of the William T. Small, Jr. Keynote Lecture from the student-led Minority Health Conference and the partner conferences.

- Re-creation of Minority Health Project website maintained by Victor Schoenbach
This site is a descendent of the original Minority Health Project (MHP) website created under Lloyd Edwards' leadership during the mid-1990s on a Department of Biostatistics server. When Victor Schoenbach became MHP director, the website was moved to a school of public health server and later converted to ColdFusion. The school of public health began migrating away from ColdFusion, so in the run-up to the "Does Racism Make Us Sick?" 2007 broadcast, Schoenbach re-created the site on a UNC ColdFusion server. When a decade later UNC discontinued support for ColdFusion, the ColdFusion code was translated to HTML and hosted on the AFS server. When UNC decommissioned AFS in fall 2018 (https://its.unc.edu/2019/01/afs-decommissioned/), Schoenbach moved the MHP website to his epidemiolog.net website.
